Philosophy of Herbal Practice
Peace, Beloved!
Welcome, and thank you for stepping into into this world of herbal healing. As a community educator and herbalist, I believe deeply in our bodies’ power to heal, and that knowledge of our bodies and our ancient healing practices is our birthright. For me, herbal work is deeply relational: relationship with the plants and with each other is at the heart of the practice. I walk alongside people to help them understand the patterns in their body, and support them in creating rituals through food, herbs and lifestyle practices to make more space for the body to heal and harmonize. I am called to this path because I know that you (we) deserve to thrive! I begin my work with people from these 3 beliefs:
The body’s innate state is healing
Symptoms are valuable data, not “brokenness”
The body is a wise ally, not a problem or enemy
From these beliefs, I work in the vitalist tradition of herbalism with an understanding of energetics to support you in bodymindspirit (they’re not separate!) to make space for healing.
My practice as an herbalist is informed by my training in Western Herbalism through Sky House Herb School, apprenticeship and study with Black midwives in the Folk Herbalist tradition, as well as ancestral wisdom from my maternal lineage of medicine women in Ethiopia.
I specialize in generative health (often called reproductive health, ranging from menstrual health, fertility, hormonal imbalances, and pregnancy/postpartum) but am happy to consult with you on a variety of needs, including supporting immune and digestive health.
