THe womb room
episode 16:
mushwomb consciousness: Mushroom medicine and the womb continuum with mikaela de la myco
I don’t have a deep personal relationship with psilocybin mushrooms, but recently, I’ve found myself feeling called to develop one.
After my conversation with my guest and friend Mikaela about the intersections between mushroom medicine and mothering journeys, I can’t help but see this desire as being intimately connected to my own preparations for pregnancy.
I’m entering a season of conscious preconception: doing the mind, body and spirit work to prepare to bring in life. And on this journey, I’ve felt the deep yearning to do the deep unveiling work of old patterns, connect more deeply with my Spirit baby, and be intentional about giving death to what is complete, so there is space for new Life.
By no coincidence I’m sure, this is so much of what Mikaela shares with us on this episode of The Womb Room Podcast!
In my experience as a birth attendant, I’ve had the honor of witnessing the life-death portal that is the birth journey. And, I’ve seen the immense challenges that arise when we are not in right-relationship with the reality of death and dying.
It inspires me to think about what it might look like for a whole generation to be brought into the world completely consciously, with full awareness of the sacred death-birth portal, and be held in the fullness of our expression -- perhaps with the support of this sacred earth medicine!
We get into all of this and more in our conversation, including what Mikaela considers safe (and not safe) when it comes to mushroom medicine in pregnancy and postpartum, how ancient archetypes of birth and mothers are often dark and grotesque (and why this matters), and what conscious mothering can look like in partnership with psilocybin.
If you've been curious to explore the possibilities of earth medicine in your womb healing journey, may this open up doors for you!

I’ll have to report back on my own mushWOMB journey -- and I’d love to hear about yours, too!
For more conversations with Mikaela and I, follow us both on Clubhouse (@mamadelamyco and @thewombroom) -- I was recently a guest on her weekly Clubhouse mushWOMB temple, where we discussed in-depth plant allies for pregnancy prevention, and it was amazing! It’s recorded so you can go back and listen to the juicy sister medicine. :)
P.S. If you heard the end of our conversation about yoni steaming and have been waiting to incorporate this into your home womb care practice, make sure to download my free Sovereign Guide to Womb Steaming: it’s full of herbal ally information, a video to support your home set up, directions and more.
