episode 20:

pelvic embodiment for nervous system regulation with veronica constance

Do you know what it feels like to live embodied in your pelvis?

For years, I lived mostly dissociating from my body, especially my pelvic bowl. And to be honest, I don’t think I even recognized it at the time!

When you add a fast paced life, hormonal contraceptives, fear of releasing emotions, and sexual traumas together…there’s bound to be some disconnection.

…And this is what most of the women I’ve worked with experience as well.

Over the years, I’ve seen how many of us have normalized a level of numbness or disconnection from our womb space, to the point where we don’t even realize it’s there.

While we all live with a body, most of us move through life without truly being IN our bodies.

Especially in a female body, there are so many ways in which we have adapted to disconnect, numb and disassociate.

While disconnecting and going into a “freeze” response  can be an adaptive response, staying stuck in this state keeps us from living our fullest, deeply expressed lives.

If you’re resonating with this, I want you to hear this: You. Are. Not. Broken.

Again, numbness, disconnection and even avoidance can serve us and our survival in unsafe conditions.
The problems arise when these patterns get ingrained and become the way we live our lives.

The beautiful thing about our brilliant bodies is that no matter how disconnected we’ve felt, we can always repair our inner relationship – this is your birthright.

This is where the medicine of embodiment practice comes in.

Becoming embodied is about building relationship with ourselves, growing our capacity to feel and simply be with sensations, and finding home in our bodies again.

As we slowly start to grow our capacity to be in our bodies and hold sensation (discomfort, pain, pleasure) as well as emotion (grief, rage, joy, creativity) we start to see how our lives can unfold in new and powerful ways.

In fact, I often hear women say that it is this simple practice of learning how to experience sensation in their bodies without numbing, suppressing or shutting down that has transformed their lives.

From relationships to careers to following our desire, it all begins in our willingness to be receptive and hold safety in the pelvic bowl.

Today on the podcast, I’m talking with Veronica Constance of Waking Womb, who loves sharing about the nervous system & pelvic bowl connection as much as I do!

We get into the power of pelvic embodiment practice, including:

💫how pelvic embodiment is part of regulating our nervous system

💫the role of pleasure in embodiment work

💫 pelvic mapping as a tool for reclaiming our inner authority

💫cycle embodiment as nervous system healing

…and so much more!

If you’ve felt disconnected from your pelvic bowl and have a yearning to reconnect, you’re not alone— and this conversation is for you.

May it be in service to your reconnection and return home to the brilliant magic of your body. One breath at a time.

And if you’re looking for a simple practice to get you started, check out my free Cervical Embodiment meditation to support your root connection.
