Ten of Pentacles, Manzel Bownan’s Tarot II

Pentacles are ruled by the earth.

The Ten of Pentacles invite us to focus on the physical survival of our beloved community. This invitation comes with instructions; the pentacles themselves and Manzel Bowman’s imagery interpretation of this Ten of Pentacles guides us to a deeper understanding of what it means to focus one the physical survival of our community.

In Manzel’s image of the Ten of Pentacles, the circular discs are being observed suspended in space.

The circularity of the pentacles offers its own medicine. The circles of the pentacles serve as a reminder of the shape of our ancestors’ homes, gatherings, and even the formation of their burial tombs. In a circle everyone is seen by everyone, and our ancestors used the circle as the primary posture for how they lived their lives. In the understanding that we are in a constant cycle of birth, death and rebirth, we are also more able to fully see each other in community.

We can draw lessons from the pentacles and their circular posture in the same way our ancestors did. The pentacles invite us to SEE each other, to organize ourselves in such a way that everyone is seen, in order to access a deeper level of intimacy in our in our relationship with ourselves, community and the structures in our life both physical and organizational. This lesson and the structure of circularity are ones we need to seriously consider as we reimagine and rebuild the society we want to live in. We have to be able to SEE each other if want to live into our liberation.

We are being called to also witness to the wealth and transformation that comes from togetherness. When we don’t spend time in this transcendent space of awe, we miss the opportunity not only to SEE ourselves, but to SEE one another. To see our Beloveds and truly be seen is much-needed medicine, especially now, and is critical for our survival and freedom.

How are you holding space to see your loved ones in their fullness? Where and with whom do you feel truly seen?

Manzel’s suspension of the pentacles in space expands and emphasizes the medicine of this card. This image creates a parallel invitation to spend time in awe of the divine transformation taking place in our beloved community. This does not mean you put aside the reality of tragedy, grief or frustration. Instead, you can allow and cultivate these emotions to fuel your climb to the place where you can get a view of the Divine at work.

I invite you this week to make time to be in awe of the divine at work. Being in awe can be a balm to grief and overwhelm. Where do you find wonder in the world today? What divine abundance is calling for your attention? Find time to travel to vantage point that will allow you to access the transcendent space and spend time gazing. I pray that in this practice you come to SEE the divinity in yourself and your beloved community.

May this reading bring us insights in our journey towards liberation.
