Fool, Motherpeace Tarot by Karen Vogel

In the shadow of the new moon wit an eagerness to embody lunar living,  The Fool emerges.

The Fool is captured in a playful image in the Motherpeace Tarot. The character approaches the river on their hands (as opposed to their feet) holding in between their toes a journal bounded by a steam of roses, the mountains are bright pink and a crocodile crosses the river nearby. Lunar living is just as unconventional as the happenings captured in this tarot card. The Fool is an invitation into a new cycle of living, and in order to access this cycle we have to set aside convention— which may mean walking on our hands instead of feet.

Living in this “upside down” orientation isn’t going to be easy, walking on your hands never feels stable at first...but let’s be honest, the “stability” of your other modes of living wasn’t actually stability…it has been an illusion.

The energy of The Fool asks us to be honest and admit that our previous ways of life were not serving us. How could they have? They were out of alignment with the lunar cycle & lunar living is our birthright.

Before us is the opportunity to cross over the river, and to do so in a new posture. It may feel ridiculous and as silly as pink mountains— but I guarantee you it is not as silly as living in perpetual cycles of exhaustion, misalignment and fear, when the divine is calling you into something greater.

The lunar cycle is not simply a novelty of the sky but a reminder of the instructions that come with our womb.

Tarot for the Wild Soul Creator Lindsay Mac reminded me that The Fool is an invitation to pay attention the parts of us that need to be in alignment. This is a timely reminder, because our womb, now more than ever, is calling to us to align. Say yes, say yes to yourself, and do so with your journal and a branch of roses in toe.

I invite you this week to do these things:

  1. Send time under the moon and set the intention to learn from its rhythm.

  2. Journal - what would a lunar rhythmic day look like for you? (& maybe soon you incorporate this way of living into your day, remember it doesn’t have to be all at once, be patient and gentle as you transition to a new rhythm of life).

May this reading bring us insights in our journey towards liberation.

Tarot has been an important part of our personal spiritual journey, serving as a Divine channel for our intuition. Olivia has used Tarot as a tool in her pastoral care practice and now feels called to share it more broadly with our Beloved community. Olivia reads the Tarot as an invitation for you to deepen your understanding of the journey you are on. By drawing on the images and stories of the tarot, her goal is to illuminate the power of your own intuition. As a queer womanist her readings center liberation. Olivia will pull one card as offering to the collective every seven days and it will be accompanied by a playlist of seven songs that bring the invitation of the reading to us through music. Listen to this week’s Spotify playlist here.
