8 of Wands, Motherpeace Tarot by Karen Vogel

The Eight of Wands emerges. Its vibrant yellow background is a nod to the illumination and the energy of the Full Moon that is in our midst. Spirit is inviting us to be as bright, bold and full as our planetary ancestor in the sky.

When the moon is full it has an energizing effect, like fire (which is the element that rules the Wands). It’s not a coincidence that our universe is full of activity on the full moon — animals howl and scurry, babies emerge from wombs, the ocean bulges creating waves and maybe even menstrating folks are ovulating. Thus, it makes perfect sense that such a fiery suit would come forth on this day.

The Eight of Wands in the Motherpeace Tarot is full of activity, the womxn-horse creature is flying in the sky, shooting flamed arrows to pave their path forward. Energy is available to them and they are channeling and aiming this energy towards something very specific.

With the energy that is available to you, no matter how much or little, aim and shoot. There is no better time than in the presence of the Full Moon.

Are you aiming towards a change? A change maybe to your rhythm of life or the pattern of your thoughts?

Are your arrows cutting away the bullshit before you so you can walk boldly in your purpose?

Are you in a place of abundance? Is now the time to share your fiery brilliance with your community?

I have two invitations for you this week:

  1. Howl at the moon. Share in this moment of collective energy with the universe. You may choose to scream into the atmosphere or pillow.

  2. Journal. Where do you have energy and how can you strategically and specifically aim that energy?

May this reading bring us insights in our journey towards liberation.

Tarot has been an important part of our personal spiritual journey, serving as a Divine channel for our intuition. Olivia has used Tarot as a tool in her pastoral care practice and now feels called to share it more broadly with our Beloved community. Olivia reads the Tarot as an invitation for you to deepen your understanding of the journey you are on. By drawing on the images and stories of the tarot, her goal is to illuminate the power of your own intuition. As a queer womanist her readings center liberation. Olivia will pull one card as offering to the collective every seven days and it will be accompanied by a playlist of seven songs that bring the invitation of the reading to us through music. Listen to this week’s Spotify playlist here.
